The Gospel for this Generation - Gold Coast, October 2009

The Gold Coast Big Event Report
October 31, 2009

T.E.A.M - Together each achieve more - was the key to the "Big Event" on the Gold Coast. Andrew Stone put together a tremendous high energy music and dance program. Josh Williamson trained counsellors, WYAM Gold Coast (Youth With A Mission) worked so hard with practical help, Tony Willis provided tents, staging, chairs etc, Counter Culture helped in so many ways.

Bottom line - young people responded to the Gospel and so many rededicated their lives to Christ!

The
"Big Event" youth rallies look nothing like the crusades we conduct. Yet the message is the same as always. As we faithfully proclaim the Gospel and lift up the Cross, young people are responding the old-fashioned way - by repenting of their sins and trusting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

It has never been more important for us to reach young people with the message of the Cross and help them build a Biblical foundations for their lives.

Would you please pray with us as we consider 2010 as to whether we should hold similar outreaches in South East Queensland. Please contact us with your comments.

The Awakening Continues - North East India, October 2009

The Hills of North East India Ring with the Music and Message of the Gospel
October 9th - 12th 2009

North East India, the scene of some of the most remarkable scenes of church revival in the last decade, played host to evangelist Dr. Bill Newman and gospel singer Darin Browne in early October.

Reunited again with hundreds of friends and supporters from previous visits, Bill and Darin saw huge crowds assemble in a field outside the bustling centre of Jowai, deep in the Jaintier hills of Meghalaya state.

For the first time in years, churches combined to host the Australians, resulting in a crowd of nearly 10,000 eager to hear the gospel preached. The Lord miraculously held off torrential rain to enable thousands to attend and hundreds to stream forward to acknowledge Christ as Lord, giving rise to scenes of genuine repentance and revival as they prayed and cried out for forgiveness in front of the colorful platform.

Thrilling the crowds with his unique songs, Darin prepared the way for Dr. Newman’s dynamic messages, which cut deep to the hearts of those listening, calling for repentance and genuine faith without compromise.

Hundreds of young people stood, kneeled and cried before the Lord with tears of repentance and earnest prayers for God to impact their families and communities.

“In a community heavily influenced by drug and alcohol abuse and other social problems, it is such a joy to bring the light of the Gospel into the darkness of young lives”, said Dr. Newman. “As evangelists, it is our joy to see so many respond to the claims of Christ in such a positive and open way.”

Organizers were thrilled with the results of three days of influential ministry, and already they are praying towards more outreaches in the future. They are certain that the excitement and enthusiasm brought to the churches in this area of the subcontinent will last for many years.

More Wonderful Harvest in Bogor, Indonesia - September 2009

What an exciting time! God in Holy Spirit is moving in a powerful way in this nation. So many are coming to faith in Christ.

Bill Newman proclaimed the life changing Gospel and Darin Browne's singing was so much appreciated. The people of Indonesia are so kind and hospitable.

The leadership seminar on Saturday was well attended, the leaders are hungry to develop the skills and abilities to lead the people of God.

In all, around 450 people made commitments to Christ! Please pray for the all important work of follow-up.

Other doors are opening for Bill Newman to return to Indonesia. Please pray for wisdom and also finance for the team to take the message of God's love to this wonderful nation. The population is enormous! Australia's population would fit into Jakarta. What an opportunity!

Indonesia Ripe & Ready! - March 2009

Indonesia is so open to the Gospel. We returned once again to Jakarta for what proved to be very powerful meetings. The responses were wonderful as precious souls responded to the claims of Christ.

Our meetings were held at the Christ Cathedral. What a magnificent venue, built to accommodate over 4,000 people! The services were so exciting, with top music including cultural singers. Darin Browne’s singing was so well accepted, opening the hearts of the people to receive Bill’s messages. At every service, the front was filled with people responding to the Lord.

The leadership seminar conducted by Bill on the Saturday drew hundreds, all keen to learn how to be more effective for the Lord. The folk now want to do longer sessions in the future. The response was so great that Darin immediately developed a website dedicated to Bill’s insight for strong, Christ-centred leadership. Take a look at it -
www.leadershipwithpurpose.com.

Please continue to pray for the follow-up of those making decisions for the Lord. We would also value your pray for wisdom in accepting further invitations to return to Indonesia. God is certainly at work in this beautiful nation!

Jakarta, Indonesia Report - February 2009

By Darin Browne

GBI Ecclesia, a vibrant, dynamic church in Jakarta, Indonesia, hosted Bill Newman and Darin Browne for a weekend of evangelistic outreach.

As the capital city of the world's largest Muslim nation, Jakarta has political pressures, terrorism and religious tension in a scale unknown to most Australians, so it was a joy to see hundreds of people coming to hear Bill Newman preach the gospel.

Indonesia is undergoing great change, and many in business have already been affected by the current world economic crisis, so the timing for our visit was most opportune, with people ready to hear the voice of God for their situation.

Open hearts enthusiastically responded to my music, enjoying it even when they struggled to understand the words, so I began to sing with our interpreter translating each phrase. This touched these very welcoming and kind people, so when Bill Newman began to open the Word of God, their hearts were ready and willing to hear the Lord speak to them.

Bill's Bible based evangelistic teaching struck a real chord with the locals, and the response was clearly evident at the end of each meeting, where we saw hundreds come forward to recieve Christ and recommit their lives to Him.

And this is just the beginning! We feel strongly that the nation of Indonesia is opening as never before, and we sense the calling of the Lord to continue to build a strong and effective evangelistic ministry in this nation.

Already pastors are talking about bringing us back again, and extending our ministry to other cities in this populous muslim nation.

Please pray for the team as we consider long term strategies which will impact the nation of Indonesia and see it explode into revival. This near neighbour could hold the key to an explosion of the gospel throughout the whole of Indonesia, and across all of Asia.

From Headhunters to Christ! Nagaland, India - January 2009

The beautiful mountains of Nagaland are located in the far north-eastern region of India. Bill had the privilege of being the first Australian evangelist to proclaim the Gospel to the people in this area.

The Naga’s were warlike, head-hunting tribes. It is an amazing story how around the turn of the 19th century, faithful missionaries took the Gospel to these people.

The word for forgiveness was not in their vocabulary. Once they learned that their sin could be forgiven, they embraced Christianity by the thousands.

The meetings were held in the city of Mokokchung. The Gospel was proclaimed morning and night with wonderful responses to the invitation at each of the services. In the final meeting, Bill preached a message on the Second Coming, and the response was overwhelming as people flooded forward.

Please pray as the work continues in turning decisions into disciples. Bill has been asked to return to the capital of Nagaland to conduct a large crusade in the local stadium.

Thank you for your prayer and support to make it all possible.

Makassar, Indonesia Report, December 2008

The Lord truly is opening the way for His message to be proclaimed in Indonesia. As we returned from the wonderful meetings in Nigeria, before heading home we travelled on to the bustling city of Makassar.

Although we were weary after the African outreach, the Lord gave us fresh energy for this exciting time.

The Christians in Indonesia are among the warmest and kindest in the world. They showered us with - we felt so privileged to be there. The meetings were packed out and the music and joy was exceptional. Darin’s singing was received with so much appreciation.

The hunger for the Word of God really touched our hearts. The responses to the invitation were instant and overwhelming, especially to the message of the Second Coming of Christ.

Please pray for the all-important work of follow-up as the Pastors endeavour to turn decisions into disciples. Also pray as we consider invitations to return to Indonesia.

Can I ask you to please help us as well with your practical support? How can we not go when so many thousands are waiting to hear the Gospel.

Counting the Cost in Nigeria - November 2008

Thousands travelled from all over Northern Nigeria to the bustling city of Kaduna to hear the Word of God preached and sung by Bill and Darin.

We awoke on the morning of the first meeting to the horrifying news that violent riots had broken out in the nearby city of Jos.

As churches and the homes of Christians were burning, pastors and church members were being butchered by Muslim extremists reacting to the recent election defeat. Despite such tragedy, many Christians from Jos joined their fellow believers at the crusade.

Thousands responded to the call of Christ, even though many knew that such a stand may well cost them their life, as it had their friends in Jos.

With hundreds slaughtered and scores of churches and homes destroyed, the people of Jos need our prayers. Pray too for those who made decisions for Christ in Kaduna, that they may faithfully serve in the face of such opposition.

Revival Rains in India - Meghalaya, October 2008

Driving, drenching rain could not deter over 15,000 people from attending the Festival in the sodden stadium grounds of Nongpoh, Meghalaya, in the mountains of N.E India. As the rain poured down, the people stood like true soldiers of the Cross listening to God’s Word sung and proclaimed.

The state of Meghalaya is experiencing a true, genuine touch of God in revival and the meetings in Nongpoh bore witness to this as the Holy Spirit moved in a mighty way. Huddled underneath their colourful umbrellas, thousands of hearts were touched by Darin Browne singing. They sat and stood in wrapped attention as Bill Newman preached God’s Word.

In each of the meetings, as Bill extended the invitation, people flooded forward to stand in the drenching rain. It was an incredible sight! Please pray for the all-important work of follow-up. Pray as well that this great movement of the Holy Spirit may continue.

Jos, Nigeria, September 2008

Bill has just returned from Nigeria. What an amazing time of blessing! He was there for a seminar to train 2000 evangelists for the harvest fields of Nigeria and Cameroon. Amazingly, there were about 3000 present to be trained. People were overflowing out of the back doors and all around the building. They are just so hungry for the Word.

The training was a huge success. Now the next stage of the campaign is underway - they are going out to preach. Please keep these precious brothers and sisters in your prayers as they fan out all over Nigeria. Many hundreds of them are now making preparations to go down into Cameroon to share the Good News. Last year they went north to Niger after the 2007 Seminar and as they went they saw such incredible blessing. It really is a white harvest field in Africa.

Following the seminar Bill journeyed up into Niger to witness first-hand some of the areas that were evangelised by last years evangelists. They have made an incredible impact. Now the talk is about doing a Crusade in Niger in 2009 - please pray!

Asia Calling - April 2008

Bill and his team recently returned from a wonderful time of ministry in Singapore. As a result of this great time of teaching and evangelism training, God has opened doors of opportunity that has astounded us.

Bill has been invited back to minister in Singapore at some very large and influential churches and have dates set for 2009 for large-scale crusade and evangelism training ministry. Along with these invitations, Asia has opened up right before us, we believe it was a real God appointed time. Bill and his team received an invitation to conduct united churches campaigns in Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and other Asian nations.

Bill plans to visit Sumatra, Indonesia, in July/August this year for initial meetings and to preach in the key church there of over 15,000 people. Then to return in October/November for a crusade that is conservatively estimated to reach over 50,000 souls.

In Singapore we heard first hand accounts of how the Thai church (not missionaries) is rising up and fearlessly proclaiming the Gospel in the streets of Bangkok. They take a truck into the city streets with a PA and sing praises to the Lord and preach His Gospel in the open air, seeing the harvest brought in right there on the sidewalk. You don’t see that on the news, but it is happening! Bill has received an invitation to hold a crusade there. Cambodia is a similar story, as well as Vietnam and Laos for similar ministry.

These regions are open like never before, we were not expecting these open invitations! But God has given them to us because the harvest is ripe, even over-ripe, ready for a mighty in-gathering. Who would have thought that these are the real conditions there in Asia? We must act and pray now while we have the time and the open doors

Johor Bahru, Malaysia - Easter 2008

Johor Bahru was the last city captured by the Japanese soldiers during World War 2 before they swept into Singapore. Today, Johor Bahru is a thriving city on the southern tip of the Malaysian Peninsular.

Over this past Easter the conquering Saviour was lifted high in this city, it was so thrilling to see so many, night by night filling the front of the auditorium, committing their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

It was so encouraging to see the pastors and churches of Johor Bahru joining hands together for the sake of the gospel. God answered their prayers with an avalanche of blessing.

Bill, Darin Browne and Ian Anderson were thrilled to see the instant response to the invitation. On the youth night they witnessed hundreds of young people coming forward in response to the invitation.

The challenge is to now turn decisions into disciples. Do pray for the all-important work of follow-up. Our grateful thanks to you for your prayer and gifts without which we could not have seen such incredible blessing.

Witness the way God moved in this special video of the Johor Bahru meetings:

Lucknow, India - October 2007

India is a land of incredible need. There are 1.1 billion people living in India, of which 850 million are Hindu, 110 million are Muslim. With all this need comes incredible opportunities.

Our team went into Lucknow, in the North of India, for a united churches crusade. Darin Browne lead the music and through his quality ministry, opened the hearts of the locals for the gospel. As the gospel was preached they came to the cross of Christ night after night. The hunger for the Good News among these beautiful people was overwhelming. I remarked to a friend, if they keep responding like this to the gospel, we simply must continue to preach in India.

What a joy to see so many coming to the Saviour. At the crusade we had well trained counsellors and good follow-up organised for all those making decisions. The local committee did an outstanding job with all of the organising.

It is vital that we reach into this great emerging nation of India
NOW. The doors may not be so wide open in the future. We must seize this vital window of opportunity.

We have been invited to return in 2008. How we need your prayer and practical support as we plan for future outreaches. These meetings were a privilege and an honor to conduct.

Please continue to pray for us for the remainder of 2008.

Jos, Nigeria - September 2007

It was a real joy to join with Dr. Tim Robnett from the Next Generation Alliance ministry with Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. We teamed with New Life For All, a wonderful organisation that exists to spread the gospel in Africa.

The conference drew people from all over Nigeria and even some from as far as Niger in the North.

Each day at the conference the excitement grew. I will never forget the music (to come back to our churches here is now so boring!!!). The joy and happiness these precious folk have, despite the little they have in possessions, was amazing.

It was such a joy to see these wonderful people going back to their nation with a renewed resolve to see the power of the gospel transform their land.

After the conference we conducted a crusade in an area about an hours drive from Jos. The local Christians worked so hard going through the streets encouraging people to come to the meetings.

The Christians of Nigeria love to sing and dance, the joy of the Lord is surely their strength. I will never forget their expression of zeal for the Lord as they knelt in the dirt when they came forward to commit their lives to the Lord.

Already we have received an invitation to return to Nigeria for further crusades. Please pray as we consider going back in 2008.

Please also continue to pray for Nigeria and for the all-important work of follow-up with those who committed their lives to the Lord at our meetings there.

Shillong, North East India - May 2007

At the invitation of the North East India Christian Council and the Rev. N.S.Phawa - Bill Newman and his team were invited to hold an evangelistic outreach in the large stadium in Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya state.

Each night, as the Lord Jesus was lifted high in song and spoken word, the Holy Spirit worked with great power. The well-trained counsellors helped those who responded as they came to the foot of the Cross.

There was joy, crying (and manifestation, as so often happens when the Cross and the Blood are preached)! The local committee were so pleased to see their hard work rewarded with so much blessing.

On the Sunday morning all the churches continued to pack the stadium with over 70,000 people! God is touching the churches in revival in this area. Please continue to pray that the revival in North East India will continue in power.

“India is so open to the gospel. We must seize this wonderful opportunity to proclaim the Good News.” Bill Newman.

Colombo, Sri Lanka - March 2007

Sri Lanka is a beautiful, tear-shaped island below India, famous through the centuries for tea production, but more recently famous for the 20 year civil war that has claimed over 70,000 lives.

For a number of years Clive Stebbins, who is working with
International Needs in this nation, has had the dream of inviting Bill Newman and his team to Sri Lanka for a crusade. Clive’s dream has just come true and his eyes were filled with tears as he saw over 1,000 people walk forward in response to the invitation on the first night. Months of planning and work by the faithful local committee was now paying off as the blessing continued night after night. They were delighted at the way God was touching so many lives.

Civil war is tearing this country apart and the only real hope is the reconciling power of the gospel. This was ably demonstrated on Saturday night, when Darin Browne lead a rendition of his hit song
One in the Arms of the Lord which featured a verse sung in both Tamil and Singalese, the two warring factions of the country. The huge crowd joined in and sang this song of unity, and we were thrilled to see the gospel bringing peace into so many hearts.

After the crusade’s conclusion, the team were due to depart at 3:00am in the morning for the airport. Bill received a call from Clive Stebbins, - “You can go back to bed mate, there’s been a bombing at the airport, I don’t think you will be going home today!” Two hours later the airport was reopened, the Team raced to catch the plane, flew out and the airport was closed again.

One of the days was Bill’s birthday and his prayer was, “Lord, for my birthday tonight could you please give me a mighty harvest of souls?” That night there was 1,000 plus people that walked forward to stand for Christ.

Please pray for the all important work of follow-up for the thousands that made their commitment to the Lord during the crusade and in the various churches in Colombo. A very big thanks to all our precious friends that made these meetings possible by their wonderful financial support. Truly we are, “co-labourers together with God”, and we give Him all the praise and glory. The churches of Sri Lanka have invited us back again this year to continue to share the gospel of peace in this beautiful nation torn apart by war.

See what God is doing in this nation of turmoil - here is Bill Newman in Sri Lanka:

Jowai, North East India - September 2006

We had waited all our lives to see what we had just seen. It was like stepping into the pages of Welsh Revival history. This was such an amazing time of harvest. The Holy Spirit started doing things before our eyes that we had  only previously read or heard about.

To see an entire community set on fire for Jesus Christ is indeed a dream come true! On the centenary of the establishment of the Welsh Presbyterian churches in the area, themselves a product of the Welsh Revival, God started to impact this distant area of India in a way that Bill Newman had never seen before in 30 years of ministry.

“Darin Browne and I walked into a beautiful, genuine and impactive move of the Holy Spirit, where not only churches are touched, but entire communities are being won to Christ.”

Into this environment we came to conduct a large scale evangelistic outreach. Thousands streamed forward for salvation, many also coming forward to cry out to God for their loved ones.

Among those attending were people from all religions, not just Christians, they were all watching their children pouring their hearts out to Christ, trying to make sense of it all. It truly is a sovereign and powerful move of God.

“You have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise...” Psalm 8:2

This revival is reminiscent of the Irish and Welsh revivals which were predominantly a youth and children’s revival. Young people are streaming to the churches in droves. God has given such favor to this outpouring - the police even stopped the big coal trucks from passing through the town while we held meetings!

Please continue to pray for the continuation of this mighty work.
